The main problem of the Ukrainian defense industry is lack of funds and lack of coordination of capabilities, – Belbas

The main problem of the Ukrainian defense industry is the lack of funds and lack of coordination of production capabilities. It can be solved through a strategy of direct support from Western governments.

This was stated by Vladyslav Belbas, Director General of Ukrainian Armor LLC, in an interview with BBC Ukraine.

According to him, today the Ukrainian budget cannot cover all our production capabilities.

“The right strategy here would be direct support for manufacturers or direct procurement. It means that foreign countries should directly purchase certain equipment or weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers. Our Western partners have already formed so-called coalitions of competence, for example, there is information that they have already purchased some number of “Bohdana”,” he said.

“There is no shortage of funds in the West, there is a shortage of capacity in the West, and we have a shortage of funds. Let’s coordinate together, taking into account these two parameters, and this way we will be able to solve the issue of the lack of funds within the country by attracting external funds,” Belbas added.
