“Varta 2” combat wheeled vehicle is a battlefield vehicle. When equipped with a 30 mm combat module, it will have significant firepower and can perform a wide range of tasks. This was stated in an interview with Video NV by Vladislav Belbas, director general of “Ukrainian Armor” LLC.

According to him, when developing the armored vehicle, the company took into account its experience in developing military equipment and the realities of modern warfare.

“We took into account the company’s 10 years of experience in development. We took into account the requirements of the front line; now this equipment must have a reliable suspension. It must always be mobile regardless of obstacles on the road. It must be lightweight and have a significant power reserve. At the same time, its ballistic and mine protection is increased,” says Belbas.

According to the director general of “Ukrainian Armor” LLC, the main task of “Varta 2” is to provide reliable protection for soldiers on the battlefield, which is why the company paid special attention to the relevant technical parameters during development – the vehicle’s ballistic protection complies with the STANAG 3 standard, and its mine protection complies with class 3A/3B.

“The most important thing on the front line right now is the vehicle’s mobility in various weather conditions, off-road conditions, etc., because these vehicles must perform their tasks regardless of external conditions. And, unfortunately, when hit by FPV systems or any other drones, the only way to hide is to install an electronic countermeasure or quickly escape from it, so vehicle characteristics such as speed and mobility are now becoming important,” the company’s director general is convinced.

Belbas also emphasized that the technical parameters of the “Varta 2” allow for the installation of various combat modules, both domestic and foreign.

“We are making a vehicle that weighs 4 tons – 3.5 tons gross weight – lighter than the previous Varta, while its load capacity allows it to install even such a heavy, powerful 30-millimeter remote-controlled weapon station of Ukrainian production. Moreover, domestic weapon stations are the heaviest. And we are already working on integrating Western weapon stations, which are much lighter, so its load capacity will naturally increase,” he said.

According to the director general of “Ukrainian Armor”, there is a great need for such equipment on the front line, so an additional advantage of  “Varta 2” is its cost: “If we have a normal serial order, this vehicle will be cheaper than its Ukrainian competitors, and significantly cheaper than foreign analogues.”
