18.09.2019

On Wednesday, September 18, a man on the Metro Bridge with his own car partially blocked traffic on the bridge and threatened to detonate everything.

All operational services were dispatched to the scene of the incident and blocked entry from both sides. Law enforcement officers introduced a special operational plan in the capital. The leadership of the Chief and Territorial Police Directorates arrived at the scene. Front-line police officers, a canine team, special forces and explosive уexperts also joined the operation.
The Department of Operational and Sudden Action Corps of the National Police of Ukraine, under the guise of a specialized armored vehicle Varta approached the suspect and detained him without a single shot. A grenade launcher, a hunting weapon, a rifle and a handgun were found at the scene of action.
Police were able to identify the plotter. He appeared to be a former serviceman, a 42-year-old native of Russia annexed by Crimea Alexei Belko. In June this year, he voluntarily handed over 1 kilogram of explosives and 88 rounds to the Desniansky district police department.
In June 2019, the man received the rank of senior sergeant. Previously, he held the post of chief of the radio station of the radio communication unit of the military unit A 3628, located in Brovary, Kyiv region.
On June 26, the court found Alexei Belka guilty of leaving the military unit without permission. Alexei was sentenced to 7 days ‘arrest in the guards’ custody.

The investigation is now underway.
