“The National Guard and a Special Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will adopt a new armored vehicles “Varta” – Arsen Avakov, the Minister of Internal Affairs said.
He wrote on his page on Facebook that “by the new year we will receive about ten armored cars, manufactured by the Design and Manufacturing Company «Ukrainian Armor». Arsen Avakov also noted that after the field testing in the combat zone there will be made a decision on purchasing a larger batch of armored vehicles.
During the armored vehicles “Varta” development the designers and engineers of the Design and Manufacturing Company «Ukrainian Armor» took into account all the demands and concerns of the military officers. Ukrainian officers noted main advantages of the ARMORED VEHICLE “VARTA”. First of all, this includes Swedish steel with a hardness of 560, which protects the crew from incendiary armor-piercing bullets of 7,62*39 mm calibre, unlike other domestic armored vehicles, in which steel with the hardness 500 is used. This enabled reducing weight of the car by 11% without reducing the armored capacity of the capsules
Also the vehicle was equipped with modern mine-protecting seats with protecting dampers and five-point straps. Similar seats are used by such leading global manufacturers of military equipment as BMC, FNSS, and Otockar.
Due to the fact that the armored door locks are the most weak place in domestic vehicles that cannot withstand the daily operation, the handles and locks manufactured by the global manufacturer TriMark were installed in the ARMORED VEHICLE “VARTA”, which can withstand daily use of the doors weighing up to 500 kg.
“The armored cars are equipped with modern seats for crew and troops, reinforced dustproof winch, and also it became possible to automatically inflate tyres sitting in the driver’s cab.” – the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine said.
Due to changes in the main pairs transmission ratio (from 6.49 to 5.49) dynamic performance when driving on a highway and cross country have significantly improved.
