Ukrainian Armor presented the vehicle under experimental design work Saigak

30.08.2021

Ukrainian Armor demonstrated the prototype under experimental and design work Saigak – an off-road tactical vehicle designed to replace the Soviet UAZ jeep. The car was developed and manufactured in a record timeframe under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine bid. The competing companies must submit prototypes by September 1, 2021.

The new vehicle is a militarized SUV. The company improved the Toyota Hilux utility vehicle to comply with the technical specifications of the Ukrainian Army. Developing Saigak, the Ukrainian Armor analyzed the background of East European countries that currently replace UAZ jeeps and used insights received from the military who operate the equipment in Donbas.

Ukrainian Armor manufactured the Saigak in partnership with Glomex that supplies similar vehicles to the Polish, Czech, and Slovak Armed Forces, and the UN Mission in Macedonia.

“By September 1, we must demonstrate the prototype and start with manufacture trials. Unfortunately, we have neither methodologies nor programs to launch the trials as the Ministry of Defense hasn’t provided them yet. However, our version of Saigak fully complies with the NATO standards. Therefore, we are eager to undergo official governmental trials,” – noted Vladislav Belbas, Director General at Ukrainian Armor.

According to the experts, the Ukrainian Army needs to replace thousands of militarized SUVs. Analogous vehicles will also find use in the National Guard of Ukraine, the National Border Guard Service of Ukraine, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Army must operate modern, reliable, and efficient military equipment!
