The «Rubin-2017», a subsidiary enterprise of «Ukrainian Armor» company successfully tested a new product – a round for the self-propelled artillery system «Akatcia». The tests were concluded at the military training ground of the government enterprise ” Makarov Production Association Southern Machine-Building factory ” in Pavlograd on February 6.

The new 152 mm high-explosive fragmentation shell was developed at the company’s own expense. It can also be used for firing from D-20, ML-20, 2A65 and 2C19 guns. The round is intended for the destruction of artillery, mortars and other enemy firepower, manpower rear objects and troops, as well as field and long defense installations.

The round includes a shell case that can be repaired and reused up to 6 times. The main difference of the new shell from others is the low-sensitivity explosive “BAS”, which has passed the entire test cycle. The usage of new explosives significantly reduces the risks of group detonation of shells in emergency situations that may occur in artillery positions.

Currently, the design bureau of the «Rubin-2017» company is developing a new, more economical in production, shell case for these guns and for the latest shell of increased range with improved aerodynamic characteristics.

For this phase of testing, The Chief Engineer tests, were used a shell in an inert version. After that, preparation for preliminary tests under the program of the Central Research Institute of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began.

The new artillery shot is not the first such product developed by «Rubin-2017» to meet the needs of the Ukrainian Army. Last year the enterprise already supplied the Armed Forces with a significant number of high-explosive fragmentation shells for the artillery system «Hyacinth».

At the same time as the tests, the production facilities of «Rubin-2017» are being prepared for mass production of the new round.

The company plans to complete the development and start mass production of ten modern artillery shells for 2020 – 2021.
